Abul Naser, a 34-year-old TMC leader and husband of Amadanga Deputy Panchayat Chief Sumaiya Parveen, was found hanging in a Mandarmani hotel room. The circumstances of his death remain unclear, with his family alleging foul play. Naser had reportedly left home stating he was going to Gangasagar to collect pending dues. However, his unexpected presence in Mandarmani has left his family confused and suspicious.
On the night of the incident, Naser spoke to his wife at around 11:30 PM. According to his wife, he did not disclose that he was in Mandarmani during the call. Subsequently, attempts to contact him failed as his phone was switched off. The family alleges that his death may be linked to a property dispute involving land in Sodepur, shared with his maternal uncle. They have accused his nephew of conspiring to seize the property and suspect this may have led to Naser’s death.
Sumaiya Parveen has written to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, demanding a thorough investigation into her husband’s death. In her letter, she has expressed concerns over alleged lapses in the police probe and requested the transfer of the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the concerned police station if necessary. Parveen has also urged the authorities to ensure that all leads, including the property dispute, are investigated.
Naser’s death has left the Adhata Panchayat in mourning. Locals described him as a helpful and approachable leader who often assisted residents during emergencies. The family has called for clarity on the events that led to his death and has demanded a transparent probe to determine whether foul play was involved.
